Biography

Ethan James, a creative force to be reckoned with, was born in a small town in Southeast Texas, where his passion for writing first began to take shape. From a young age, he penned poetry and short stories, a talent that would only continue to flourish as he grew older.

As he progressed through elementary, middle, and high school, Ethan's love for writing never wavered. In fact, it only intensified, leading him to pursue higher education in the field. He enrolled at Texas A&M University, where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in poetry and prose/short fiction.

During his time at the university, Ethan was an integral part of the student-run print publication, serving as editor-in-chief. He also worked as a city news reporter and managed a regional entertainment magazine, further honing his skills and gaining valuable experience.

After completing his graduate studies, Ethan set his sights on Tennessee, where he would pursue his PhD in film and children's literature. This marked a significant shift in his academic pursuits, as he explored new interests and developed his skills in a different field.

In addition to his academic endeavors, Ethan also nurtured his passion for photography, establishing his own studio, Ethan James Photography. His photographs have been featured in various publications around the world, including magazines and books in Brazil, Australia, London, Germany, and New York, to name a few.

Ethan's academic pursuits eventually led him to complete his PhD in 2010. He has since taught college English, focusing on composition, literature, business writing, creative writing, and research, with a emphasis on film. His first book on film, released by McFarland Publishers in 2013, explores the world of horror film remakes.

As a multifaceted individual, Ethan has also ventured into the world of film and television, working as a casting director and still photographer on several projects, including Scenes from a Gay Marriage (2012),More Scenes from a Gay Marriage (2014),and Paternity Leave (2015),all directed by Matt Riddlehoover.

Ethan's work has been chronicled in the art documentary Gaze (2010),directed by Matt Riddlehoover, and his photographs have appeared in numerous publications around the world. As of 2016, Ethan resides in Texas, where he continues to pursue his passions and make a name for himself in the world of film, literature, and photography.
