Chief Enyinna Nwigwe, a Nigerian Actor, Producer, and Creative Entrepreneur, was born on September 18th. He is renowned for his captivating performances in films such as The Wedding Party 2 and Black November, where he portrayed the characters Nonso and Tamuno respectively.
Nwigwe hails from Ngor Okpala, Imo State, Nigeria, and is the son of Nigerian parents. He earned a degree in Economics from the University of Calabar.
Prior to his successful acting career, Nwigwe began as a print and runway model before transitioning to professional acting. His debut feature film was Wheel of Change in 2004, followed by numerous projects alongside esteemed producers and directors from Africa and globally.
In 2012, he joined the cast of Black November alongside renowned actors Kim Basinger, Vivica A. Fox, Akon, and Wyclef Jean. In 2017, he starred in the lead role of South African film All About Love, which won the Best Film Southern Africa award at the AMVCAs. In 2019, Nwigwe played the role of Obinna Omego in the remake of Nigerian Classic, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, and more recently, he portrayed the lead role of Nura Yusuf in Nigeria's first military-based film, Eagle Wings.
Nwigwe's impressive repertoire includes leading the stellar cast in Prime video's Badamasi, a biopic on former military President of Nigeria, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB). His outstanding performance earned him a Best Actor in a Leading Role nomination at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
In recognition of his remarkable work, Nwigwe's portrait photograph by Nigerian-American photographer Iké Udé was selected for permanent exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African Art, situated at the National Mall in Washington DC.
Nwigwe resides in Lagos, Nigeria, and is passionate about cooking, fitness, and playing tennis. He has received numerous nominations for his outstanding performances, including the Nollywood and African Film Critics Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Black November in 2015 and the City People Entertainment Award for Best Supporting Actor of the Year (English) in 2016.
In December 2021, Enyinna was conferred with a chieftaincy title, CHITURUGO (Crowned by God),by Logara for his humanitarian work with the ENYINNA NWIGWE FOUNDATION, which focuses on the plight of underprivileged kids and the physically challenged.
