Emma Watkins, a multifaceted dancer and filmmaker, embarked on her performance journey at the tender age of three, fostering a profound passion for dance and movement. Her early start in ballet, Irish, hip-hop, tap, and contemporary dance laid the foundation for a career that would span the globe.
As she honed her craft, Emma's performances took her to various stages in Australia, France, India, Canada, China, and New Zealand. Her impressive resume eventually led her to join the renowned Australian children's entertainment group, The Wiggles.
Beyond her love of dance, Emma's curiosity about movement and body expression extended to an interest in sign language. Her commitment to raising awareness about Australia's Deaf community began at a young age. To further this goal, Emma pursued a Diploma of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and is currently studying a Diploma in Interpreting at Deaf Connect.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Emma is also a PhD candidate at Macquarie University in Sydney. Her research focuses on the affective, artistic integrations of sign language, dance, and film editing, demonstrating her dedication to exploring the intersection of these mediums.
