Biography

Emma Julia Jacobs, a multifaceted artist, model, actress, and filmmaker, was raised in Holmby Hills and Cheviot Hills. With a strong foundation in her creative pursuits, she was grateful for the support of her teachers at Stephen S. Wise Temple.

As a woman and a Jew, Emma's work is deeply personal and rooted in her experiences. She views art as a form of self-love, healing, and survival. Emma's emotional performances in genre films, particularly in horror, have garnered widespread acclaim for their realism and nuance.

Her work on Hitchcock (2012) alongside Sir Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, and James D'Arcy marked a significant experience in her career, solidifying her love for refined and meaningful filmmaking. She has also had lasting relationships with fellow artists, including James Duval, Edgar Wright, James Wan, Sam Raimi, and Jen & Michael Biehn.

Emma's feature film, "Doubt", is a semi-autobiographical depiction of violence, rape-culture, CPTSD, and survival. With raw honesty, she reveals the isolation that comes from sexual violence and a culture that enables it. She has never shied away from calling out injustice in the industry, even when it resulted in blacklisting and abandonment.

Emma has received awards for her acting, writing, directing, and makeup FX work. She continues to create personal and public-facing projects, including "From Hell She Rises", a tribute to Hammer Horror heroines. Emma has also appeared in Ruby Sparks and Black Swan, the latter of which is especially dear to her for its cinematic excellence and artistic kinship on set.

As a deeply self-taught artist and thinker, Emma has been known to express her gratitude for her support and nurturing by her temple, rabbis, and the Jewish community. "Judaism saved my life", she says. Emma continues to be outspoken about her Jewish identity and has expressed her desire to amplify the voices of other women and girls.

Her current mission is to produce films on her terms and to help others find their voice, power, and creative truth. Emma now lives with her rescue rabbits in an undisclosed location, prioritizing her safety and peace.
