Ellen O'Mara, a remarkable individual, was born and raised in the vibrant city of Manhattan, where she would later make a name for herself in the entertainment industry. In the year 1966, Ellen's talents and charm captured the attention of the Red Cross, as she emerged victorious in a contest to become the esteemed "Red Cross Girl" for a year. This esteemed honor not only brought her national recognition but also paved the way for a career in the spotlight.
As the years passed, Ellen's allure and versatility as a performer became apparent, as she began to appear on posters and in films, often donning the iconic attire of a nurse. Her impressive auditioning skills ultimately led to her most renowned role, that of Alice Blake, in the 1967 film Up the Down Staircase.
Despite her many accomplishments, Ellen's life was ultimately marked by a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Sadly, on September 29, 2004, her remarkable journey came to an end, as she passed away at the Margaret Tietz Center, surrounded by loved ones and memories of a life well-lived.
