Biography

Elizabeth Lucas is a multifaceted creative professional who has made significant contributions to the world of stage and screen. As a Founding Producer of the New York Musical Theatre Festival, she has premiered numerous original musicals, including "Wild About Harry", "The Last Starfighter", and "Captain Gravy's Wavy Navy", which is currently being developed for television.

Elizabeth is also an accomplished director, making her feature film directing debut with three genre movies about New York City: the rock musical "Clear Blue Tuesday", the teen thriller "Red Hook", and the sci-fi film "Fade to White". Her unique approach to filmmaking was recognized by the Santa Monica Film Festival, which created a Musical Short category and awarded her a Special Achievement Award for her original 15-minute musical film "Isabella Rico". This film has been showcased at over 30 film festivals worldwide, including the Hamptons International Film Festival, the Palm Beach Film Festival, and the Raindance International Film Festival in London.

In addition to her work in film, Elizabeth has an impressive theatre resume, with notable credits including the Midwest premiere of "Hello Again", which won two After Dark Awards and received a Jefferson Award recommendation, and productions of "Footloose" and "Jekyll & Hyde", which received rave reviews at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. She has also directed numerous readings and workshops, and has a special fondness for directing "Nine", "Kiss Of The Spider Woman", and "Rapunzel".

Elizabeth has had the opportunity to assistant direct over 30 musicals, plays, and operas under the guidance of renowned directors such as Tony Award-winner Walter Bobbie, international opera director Rhoda Levine, and multi-award winning author, actor, and director Simon Callow, among others.

In addition to her work with the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Elizabeth has also founded the Door County Opera and the Chicago Directors' Forum, and has assistant produced the concert musical Galas for the Chicago Humanities Festival. She has been a featured writer for several publications, including Spunk Magazine, Great Lakes Stages, and Stage Directions.

Elizabeth is a member of several prestigious organizations, including New York Women in Film & Television, the League of Theatre Women, the 2004 Berlin Film Festival Talent Campus, the 2004 Commercial Theatre Institute 14-Week Program, the League of American Theatres Producer Development Program, and the 1998 Lincoln Center Theatre Directors Lab. She has also served on the Stage Directors & Choreographers Foundation Artists Action Committee. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Music in Lyric Theatre from Northwestern University and a Film Certificate from New York University.
