Elizabeth is a celebrated and accomplished director, producer, and cinematographer whose documentary films have garnered widespread recognition and acclaim. Her work has been showcased at some of the most prestigious film festivals globally, including the Venice Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, Museum of Modern Art, True/False Film Festival, New York Times Op-Docs, Field of Vision, and PBS' POV.
Elizabeth has been honored with numerous accolades, including being featured in Filmmaker Magazine's "25 New Faces of Independent Film," DOC NYC's "40 Under 40," and Cannes Lions' "New Directors Showcase." She has also received artist fellowships from the Locarno Film Festival, New York Film Festival, Yaddo, MacDowell, Concordia Studio Fellowship, and Gotham/HBO Documentary Development Initiative.
Her debut feature film, Stray, won the Best International Feature award at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival and received nominations from the Independent Spirit Awards, Critics Choice Documentary Awards, and Cinema Eye Honors. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2020 and was released theatrically by Magnolia Pictures, with a simultaneous streaming release on Hulu.
Elizabeth's sophomore feature, Mistress Dispeller, made its world premiere at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival, where it won two awards. The film had its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and has since won several awards, including a Harrell Award Special Mention at the Camden International Film Festival and the Gold Hugo Award for Best Documentary at the Chicago International Film Festival.
Her award-winning short films, including Hotel 22, Bisonhead, and Mother's Day, have been acquired by colleges and libraries worldwide. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Stanford University. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Elizabeth has established herself as a talented and innovative filmmaker with a unique perspective and a passion for storytelling.
