Biography

Edwin L. Marin, a renowned director, was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, in the year 1899. At a young age, he embarked on a journey to Hollywood, where he secured a position as an assistant cameraman at the tender age of twenty. By the year 1932, Marin had transitioned into directing, initially working for the low-budget studio Tiffany Pictures. However, he continued to ascend the Hollywood ranks, soon finding himself entrusted with directing films for prominent studios such as Warner Brothers and MGM.

One of his most notable and critically acclaimed films was A Christmas Carol (1938),starring Reginald Owen, which garnered both critical and financial success. Throughout his illustrious career, Marin worked for most of the major studios of the time, including United Artists, 20th Century-Fox, and RKO. He seemed to have found his niche in directing westerns, producing several well-received films featuring cowboy star Randolph Scott.

In his personal life, Marin was married to the talented actress Ann Morriss. Tragically, his life was cut short when he passed away in Los Angeles, California, in the year 1951, at the age of fifty-two.
