Ebbe Bassey was born in the Bronx, New York, and spent her formative years in Calabar, Nigeria, West Africa. This multifaceted artist is a talented actress, writer, and producer who is deeply committed to the idea that art should not only entertain but also educate.
Ebbe's passion for her craft led her to study the renowned Meisner technique of Method acting at the esteemed William Esper Studio under the guidance of the accomplished Ms. Maggie Flanigan.
In 2007, Ebbe founded her production company, 10Wembly Productions, and went on to produce her first short film, "Siri Oko Fo (Mending Fences)", in which she not only starred but also co-wrote and executive produced. This remarkable film made its debut at the prestigious 2008 Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner and has since been accepted at other notable film festivals, including the Hollywood Black Film Festival, Boston International Film Festival, Urban World, Newfilmmakers, London's Raindance, and Show Off Your Shorts film festivals.
Ebbe has had the privilege of working as an actor on several notable television shows, including NYPD Blues and Law & Order: SVU. In addition, she served as a technical advisor on the Law & Order: SVU episode "Snitch", which tackled the sensitive and important issue of female genital mutilation in Nigeria.
In addition to her work in television, Ebbe has appeared in a number of short films, including the award-winning "A Spoonful of Sugar", which won Best Student Film at the 2003 Hollywood Black Film Festival (Showtime),"African Booty Scratcher" (HBO),"Drawn", "The End of Winter", and "Say Grace Before Drowning", for which she is currently rehearsing.
Ebbe's impressive career has been profiled in several notable publications, including The Nigerian Sunday Guardian, Daily Independent's Positive People, Momentum MV, Ladybrille, and Obaasema. Currently, she is working on pre-production for her second short film under her production company, "Saving My Father".
