Born in Battambang, Cambodia, D.Y. was raised in Long Beach, California, where his fascination with martial arts began at a young age. Inspired by the legendary Bruce Lee and Donnie Yen, he would often imitate their moves on his living room carpet, laying the foundation for his future martial arts journey.
As he grew older, D.Y. immersed himself in a diverse range of martial arts styles, including American Kickboxing, Cambodian Bokator, Chinese Kung Fu, and Chinese Traditional weaponry. In 2003, he achieved a remarkable milestone by graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and being selected to represent the United States at the World Games Macau, China, as a member of the U.S. National Wushu Kung Fu Team.
This remarkable achievement marked the beginning of a chain of events that would propel D.Y. into the spotlight. He would go on to meet and learn from legendary martial artists Jet Li and Jackie Chan, and even become a disciple of the world-famous Shaolin Temple, solidifying his status as a respected martial artist and expert in the field.
