Duane Sharp, a Kansas City-born actor and martial artist, began his journey in the performing arts and combat sports at a young age. After graduating from the University of Kansas, he relocated to Chicago, where he further honed his craft by studying improvisation at The Second City and Improv Olympia under the guidance of renowned instructors Charna Halpern and the late Del Close.
Since then, Duane has established himself as a versatile performer, taking on a wide range of roles in various mediums. In film, he has appeared in notable titles such as Road to Perdition, Stir of Echoes, Zen Noir, Dark, and The Godfather of Green Bay, showcasing his ability to portray complex characters. His impressive resume also includes work in television, with appearances on Early Edition and Kevin's Room, as well as numerous commercials and training videos.
Duane's martial arts background has also played a significant role in his career, with a black belt in Shidokan Karate, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu NAGA 2006 Champion, a Weekend War kickboxing winner, and a veteran of 60 amateur boxing matches. He has also worked as a fight choreographer, bringing his expertise to various productions.
In addition to his film and television work, Duane has had a successful career in Chicago theater, performing with esteemed companies such as The Goodman, Steppenwolf, Chicago Shakespeare, The Court, Apple Tree, Shaw Chicago, and Bailiwick, among others. He has also lent his voice to the EA Sports' Fight Night 3 videogame as the ring announcer and Herbie the trainer.
Throughout his career, Duane has received numerous accolades, including the 2003 first-place TV Special Black History Hall of Fame award for his work on Kevin's Room.
