Doug's formative years were spent in the Motor City of Detroit and the Twin Cities of Minneapolis, where he later relocated to the city that never sleeps, New York City. Prior to his arrival in the Big Apple, Doug briefly attended the prestigious Juilliard School, a renowned institution for the performing arts. Following his stint at Juilliard, Doug honed his craft by studying with the esteemed Sanford Meisner for a period of two years, after which he embarked on a diverse array of unconventional occupations. One such job included donning the guise of a colossal Citibank card, which he wore while distributing flyers in the bustling Times Square. This unusual foray into promotional work served as a precursor to Doug's subsequent endeavors in regional and Off-Broadway theater. Eventually, his big break arrived in the form of a supporting role in the 1988 feature film Fresh Horses.
