Dorotheea Petre is a renowned Romanian actress, celebrated for her outstanding performances and numerous accolades in international film festivals.
At the tender age of 23, she made her debut in the leading role of Ryna, a feature film directed by Ruxandra Zenide and produced by Strada Film. This milestone marked the beginning of a remarkable career, with Ryna going on to receive over 30 international awards. Petre's impressive debut earned her the Debut award from the Transilvania International Film Festival, as well as the Special Jury Prize at the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg.
In 2005, Petre took on the main part in How I Spent the End of the World, a role that brought her international recognition and the Special Jury Prize for Best Actress at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section. This prestigious award was created specifically for her in the Un Certain Regard section, making her the first Romanian actor to receive it.
The following year, Petre was declared Best Actress of the Year by the Association of Film Critics and Specialized Journalists, and she received the Gopo Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, as well as the UCIN Award for Best Actress. In 2009, she won the Special Jury award for Best Actress in the Magna Graecia Film Festival for her role in Mar Nero.
