Born on February 26, 1930, in the vibrant neighborhood of The Bronx, New York. He spent his formative years in this bustling city, eventually graduating from De Witt Clinton High School, located in the heart of Bedford Park, Bronx, New York.
In his early twenties, he served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1948, honing his skills and gaining valuable life experience.
The 1950s saw him become a member of the esteemed Greenwich Village Dramatic Workshop, a prestigious institution that nurtured the talents of many aspiring actors, writers, and producers.
As an actor, he made a name for himself in the entertainment industry, enjoying a successful career from 1955 to 1960. However, his true calling lay in writing and producing, a path he embarked upon in 1960 and remained devoted to until 1990.
Throughout his life, he was blessed with a loving family, including his son, writer-producer Dean Devlin.
Sadly, his life was cut short by lung cancer, which claimed his life at the age of 70 on December 11, 2000. Despite his untimely passing, his legacy lives on through his body of work and the countless lives he touched during his time in the spotlight.
