Dominic Raacke's early life took an exciting turn when he temporarily relocated to the United States as a teenager. After completing his high school diploma in Germany, he spent two years honing his craft at the prestigious Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt.
In 1978, Raacke embarked on a two-year journey to New York, where he trained in acting and directing at the renowned Actors Studio under the guidance of Lee Strasberg and Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting. This period saw him receive engagements in various Broadway productions.
Upon returning to Germany in 1983, Raacke began to make a name for himself in television, appearing in productions such as "Tango in the Belly" and "Zuckerhut", both directed by Klaus Emmerich. The same year, he landed his breakout role as miner Karl Boetzkes in the contemporary TV series and miners' saga "Rote Erde", also directed by Emmerich.
The following years saw Raacke take on a variety of roles, including brief appearances in Klaus Lemke's comedy "Bibo's Men" and the historical drama "Lenz or Freedom" based on Stefan Heym. In 1987, he appeared in the political thriller "Gambit" by Peter F. Brinkmann, earning him the Chaplin Shoe German Actor Award for Best Young Actor.
Raacke's impressive performances continued with his role as an associate judge in the documentary play "Abtreibed" in 1988. He delivered a standout performance in the 1995 rape drama "Everyone Was Watching", playing the victim's defense attorney. In 1991, he welcomed his daughter, born from his relationship with actress Natja Brunckhorst.
In 1996, Raacke made his screenwriting debut with the erotic thriller "The Cold Finger", in which he also played the role of Gregor. The following year, his screenplays for the crime comedies "Modellknaben" garnered widespread acclaim. He was awarded the Telestar for Best Script for the German friends series "Um die 30" in 1995, in which he also played the role of Frank Schott.
Since 1999, Raacke has been a regular fixture as Chief Inspector Till Ritter in the "Tatort" production, working alongside Chief Inspector Felix Stark alias Boris Aljinovic and Ernst-Georg Schwill as assistant Weber to investigate cases in the Berlin capital milieu.
