Upon completing his studies, Djo returned to his native Kinshasa, where he began to make a name for himself in the film industry. He worked as a producer and assistant director for various international TV production companies, including the BBC, ARTE, and DRTV2.
One of Djo's most notable projects was Congo in Four Acts, a groundbreaking training and production project that garnered widespread acclaim. His innovative approach and dedication to his craft earned him the prestigious title of African Trailblazer 2010 at MIPTV.
Djo's debut feature film, VIVA RIVA!, premiered at the esteemed Toronto and Berlin film festivals, receiving glowing reviews from critics and awards bodies alike. The film's success was nothing short of phenomenal, as it went on to win six African movie awards, an MTV award for best African film, and was sold internationally to countries such as the US, UK, Australia, France, and Germany.
