Dervla Kirwan, a talented actress born in October 1971 in Churchtown, Dublin, Ireland. Her father worked in the insurance industry, while her mother was a French and English teacher. She has two older sisters and was just 15 years old when she landed her first role in the BBC Drama "Troubles" in 1988. A year later, she secured a part in the first installment of Billy Roche's "Wexford Trilogy," which premiered at the Bush Theatre in London from February 15 to March 19, 1988. Kirwan reprised her role when the plays were adapted into a television series, broadcast on July 31, 1993.
Her stage work continued with notable productions such as "Poor Beast In The Rain," the second part of the Wexford Trilogy, at the Bush Theatre from November 13 to December 22, 1992, and later adapted for television on August 7, 1993. She also appeared in "Hush" at the Royal Court Theatre from August 10 to September 7, 1992, "Water Music" at the Cockpit Theatre from September 23 to October 17, 1992, "Once A Catholic" at the Tricycle Theatre on December 18, 1992, and "An Absolute Turkey" at the Globe Theatre on December 27, 1993.
Kirwan's film credits include "December Bride" in 1990, although she is currently awaiting news on three or four upcoming film projects. On television, she has appeared in "A Time to Dance" from January 12 to February 2, 1992, "Goodnight Sweetheart" from 1993 to the end of the 1996 series, and "Ballykissangel" in 1996. Her outstanding performance as Assumpta in "Ballykissangel" earned her the National Television Award for 'Most Popular Actress' on October 8, 1996.
