Dennis, a 4th generation Chinese American, was born in San Francisco, California. His maternal great-grandfather was one of the thousands of immigrants who ventured to California's gold mines in pursuit of fortune. Dennis's grandfather was a baker at the prestigious Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco, while his father was a film distributor who licensed Chinese martial arts movies throughout California and Hawaii, and even owned a multi-screen theater on Market Street in San Francisco.
Dennis's educational background includes a double bachelor's degree in broadcast arts and music from San Francisco State University. Prior to producing and directing feature films, he was an award-winning creative director and president of a production company that has created and delivered advertising and marketing campaigns for over 200 TV shows and movies for prominent networks such as ABC, Disney, Fox, Warner Bros., and Universal.
In the early stages of his career, Dennis wrote music for ABC and Disney, and even wrote and performed an original song in his feature film, "A Better Place." As a photographer, he operates under the name "db.ho" and is the founder and president of a state-of-the-art post-production facility in Los Angeles.
Dennis's directorial debut, "A Better Place," has received widespread acclaim, winning multiple Best Picture and Best Director awards at foreign and domestic film festivals.
