Demian Fuica was born in Punta Arenas, Chile, and later immigrated to Canada with his family in 1979. He went on to earn a degree in film studies from the University of Montreal, after which he began directing music videos before venturing into feature films.
His first independent feature, "The Last Incarnation," premiered at the 2005 Montreal Fantasia Film Festival. This was followed by his second independent feature, "La Run," which was released in 2011 and selected for numerous film festivals, including the Montreal World Film Festival, Angouleme Francophone Film Festival, Crime Film Festival of Liege, and Quebec's Film Rendez-Vous.
"La Run" received several award nominations, including best editing, best supporting actor, and best screenplay at the 2012 Quebec Jutra Awards. In 2016, Fuica founded his production company, 8cube, which focuses on developing and producing audiovisual content.
Four years later, Fuica reunited with his brother Leonardo to produce and direct their second collaborative film, "Camping Trip," released in 2021 as part of the Fuica Brothers film series.
