Demet Akalin, born on April 23, 1972, is a renowned Turkish singer and former model. She has become one of the most recognizable names in Turkish pop music, thanks to her numerous hit songs released since the mid-2000s.
Initially, Akalin pursued a career in modeling, working for Nese Erberk's agency and appearing in various motion picture films and television series in the 1990s. Concurrently, she began singing in casinos and released her debut studio album, Sebebim, in 1996, although it did not achieve commercial success.
It wasn't until the release of her album Banane in 2004 that Akalin gained widespread recognition in Turkey. The album's lead single, "Askin Acamadigi Kapi", earned her a Turkey Music Award for Song of the Year. Her subsequent albums, including Kusursuz 19 (2006) and Dans Et (2008),solidified her position as a prominent figure in Turkish pop music.

Akalin has been married three times, first to Oguz Kayhan in 2006, then to Önder Bekensir in 2010, and finally to Okan Kurt in 2012. She gave birth to her first child, Hira, in 2014, but the couple divorced in 2018.
