Deema, a Ukrainian-born actor, has a penchant for portraying tough and compelling characters. His fascination lies in the darker, grittier aspects of life. This spring, he will make his film debut as Travis, a young bully in "The Sisterhood of Night", a modern-day Salem witch trial directed by Caryn Waechter, who won the 2014 Woodstock Film Festival's Best Director award. The film also stars Georgie Henley, known for her role in the Narnia franchise, and Kara Heyward, who appeared in "Moonrise Kingdom".
In addition to his film debut, Deema will be seen in "Stealing Cars" (2015),alongside John Leguizamo, William H. Macy, and Emory Cohen, where he plays the role of Earl, a skinhead. His Off-Broadway theatre debut was in David Rabe's "Early History of Fire" at The New Group, directed by Jo Bonney.
Deema's film credits include Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street", "Yelling at the Sky", "August Rush", and several short films, including "Thanksgiving Break", "Eggs and Soldiers", "The Good Boy", "Little Shadow", which was featured in the 2013 London Shorts Festival and BAFTA short list, "Immaculate Reception", which was an official selection at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival Shorts Program, and "Rattlefly".
In television, Deema has had recurring roles on Season 5 of "Royal Pains" as Slack, as well as appearances on "Law & Order" and "The Naked Brothers Band". Born in Kiev, Deema moved to the US at the age of 8 and is bilingual in English and Russian. When not acting, he is a drummer in a metal band based out of New Jersey.
