Deborah M. Pratt is a multifaceted American creative force, with a professional career spanning decades, comprising stints as a Director, Writer, Producer, Singer, Dancer, and Actress.
After graduating from Webster University with a degree in Psychology and Theatre, Pratt won a nationwide talent search and secured a contract with NBC, allowing her to transition to Hollywood.
Throughout her career, Pratt has demonstrated her versatility by writing songs, singing on multiple albums, acting, writing, and producing. She has also had a hand in creating and executive producing several notable television series, including the iconic Quantum Leap, for which she penned 25 episodes and co-wrote an additional 15.
Pratt has received numerous accolades, including five Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe nomination, and awards from Women in Film, The Angel Award, The Golden Block Award, and Five Black Emmy Nominees Awards.
In addition to her work in television, Pratt has written and directed multiple feature films, including the biographical screenplay for her epic love story, Chevalier & Antoinette, and Heartswear, a drama about a Black attorney who defends her White childhood best friend in a murder trial.
As a published novelist, Pratt has broken the mold of science fiction, creating a genre of science fantasy with her soul-bending tale of a new earth and the key to human empowerment. Her books, intricately layered with scientific fact and imaginative fantasy, have captivated readers worldwide.
Pratt is a pioneer in trans-media entertainment, developing her Vision Quest world across multiple platforms. Her latest book series, Age of Eve, and her upcoming novel, The Tempting; Seducing the Nephilim, are both highly anticipated.
In addition to her creative pursuits, Pratt is an active advocate for women and minority rights in the entertainment industry. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Writers Guild of America and is a member of the DGA, SAG, PGA, WGA, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
