David Twohy is a multifaceted filmmaker who has made a significant impact in the film industry. As both a writer and director, he has worked with a diverse range of talent, including Harrison Ford, Judi Dench, Kevin Costner, Vin Diesel, Thandie Newton, Tommy Lee Jones, Jeff Daniels, Richard E. Grant, Chris Hemsworth, Demi Moore, Bruce Greenwood, Olivia Williams, Tim Olyphant, and Milla Jovovich, to name a few.
Twohy's early success came with his screenplay for "THE FUGITIVE," which was nominated for Best Screenplay Previously Produced or Published in 1993. He also wrote the screenplays for "WATERWORLD," "TERMINAL VELOCITY," and Ridley Scott's "G.I. JANE."
As a director, Twohy made his debut with "THE GRAND TOUR," an adaptation of Henry Kuttner and C. L. Moore's novella "Vintage Season." The film received critical acclaim, winning the Grand Prix at the Festival Du Film Fantastique and a Golden Scroll from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. Twohy's follow-up directing effort, "THE ARRIVAL," earned him a Saturn Award.
Twohy's next project, "PITCH BLACK," was a modestly budgeted film that surprised critics and audiences with its dark mood and complex characters. The film's success launched a new franchise for Universal, with sequels including "CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK" and "RIDDICK."
Between franchise films, Twohy wrote and directed two standalone thrillers. "BELOW," co-written with Darren Aronofsky, is a chilling tale of eerie occurrences on a submarine during World War II. His next film, "A PERFECT GETAWAY," is a twisted thriller set in Hawaii that shocked audiences worldwide.
David Twohy's next project is "RUNNING WITH LIONS," a contemporary story about the world of Formula One racing.
