Here is the biography of David Manzanares:
David Manzanares is a multi-generational native New Mexican who grew up in Abiquiu, a small farming/ranching community one hour north of Santa Fe. He attended high school in Espanola, where he excelled in basketball and drama. He later earned his BBA from New Mexico State University with a double major in marketing/management and sales/promotion.
David's introduction to the world of production came when a UK-based catalog crew unknowingly trespassed onto his family's ranch in Abiquiu. After reaching a successful settlement at gunpoint, David decided to jump headfirst into the unpredictable world of shooting, this time using a camera. Catalogs led to print advertising, music videos, commercials, and eventually, he found himself working in television and on features.
Throughout his career, David has worn many hats, including actor, music artist, producer, location scout, location manager, production manager, production coordinator, AD, production supervisor, music producer/supervisor, and cultural advisor. His favorite part of the industry is being part of a creative and collaborative team where everyone's contribution is recognized and valued.
David has worked on over 50 films, including "Crazy Heart," "The Magnificent Seven," "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice," and "Django Unchained." He has also composed and contributed music to multiple films and made-for-TV movies.
In 2015, David served as the consulting producer on several Sony/Lifetime projects, including "Beautiful & Twisted," "Cleveland Abduction," and "The Lizzie Borden Chronicles." He continues to work on developing new projects.
David has acted in multiple film projects, including "The Ridiculous Six," "Graves," and "Cleveland Abduction." He has also worked with notable filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ron Howard, Quentin Tarantino, Antoine Fuqua, Carl Franklin, Jim Sheridan, Steven Soderburgh, James Mangold, Michael Bay, and Janusz Kaminski.
In his free time, David enjoys writing, producing, acting, and composing music. He is currently translating a 1,000-year-old adventure story that has been passed down in his family for generations. He is also a member of the band "Manzanares" and continues to perform and record with his brother Michael.
Career highlights include acting opposite Shirley MacLaine for the German travel show Voxtours, performing original music for Muhammad Ali, being directed by Jim Sheridan for the film "Brothers," and having his song "Rocky Mountain Man" used in the scene. He has also acted alongside Jeff Bridges and Robert Duvall in the film "Crazy Heart," performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and been directed by Antoine Fuqua and acted alongside Ethan Hawke and Chris Pratt for the film "The Magnificent Seven."
