David Lai, a Hong Kong-born film director, screenwriter, actor, and producer, was born in 1952 and embarked on a journey to the United States at the tender age of 20 to pursue a degree in Cinematography and Directing at Abraham Lincoln University.
By 1979, Lai had already participated in more than 60 television programs worldwide, demonstrating his versatility and dedication to the craft. In 1982, he directed his first film, "Lonely Fifteen" or "Liang Mei Zai", which received widespread acclaim and numerous award nominations, including the prestigious Hong Kong Film Award.
This early success propelled Lai to greater heights, and he eventually established himself as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. He is now based in mainland China, where he has focused primarily on "China Right Here", an epic television documentary series that has been running for over 10 years and remains popular to this day.
In addition to his work on "China Right Here", Lai is also an artist with a strong environmental conscience. He has collaborated with the United Nations Media Department to create a sister series to "China Right Here", titled "Homelook", and has also co-produced a documentary series called "United Nations in Action".
