Originally from West Bend, Wisconsin, David began his academic journey by earning a Bachelor's Degree in English - Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin Madison, where he developed a strong foundation in classical narrative storytelling.
Following his undergraduate studies, David honed his skills as the Deputy Editor of The Madison Review, a nationally renowned literary journal, and later redirected his expertise to the screenwriting world.
Subsequently, David relocated to Los Angeles to further refine his craft and has since written a multitude of original screenplays, including the critically acclaimed and cult favorite horror-satire Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006),directed by Scott Glosserman.
In addition to his work in screenwriting, David is also featured as one of three subjects in the Mercury Productions documentary Dreams on Spec (2007),a film that sheds light on the challenges and triumphs of pursuing a screenwriting career in Hollywood.
Currently, David is involved in several upcoming projects, including a horror short film titled Wait for It (2024),as well as the horror-comedy The Hills Only Have Eyes for You.
