David Haines, a native Philadelphian, was born with a profound passion for film and acting. His mother, who worked at the local movie house, would often take him and his siblings to work with her, and David would sit in awe, watching newly released films. As he grew older, David's love for helping others led him to achieve numerous awards, including the Community Service Awards and the NAACP Student Image Award. He worked with abused children, taught school, and even pursued a career in education.
However, his desire to express himself through the arts never faded. One summer, David enrolled in the historic Freedom Theatre in Philadelphia, where he took an acting class that reignited his passion for the craft. The next semester, he auditioned for the lead role in Lorraine Hansberry's "A Raisin In The Sun" at Lincoln University and landed the part, impressing audiences with his portrayal of Walter Lee Younger.
In 1997, David enrolled at Howard University in Washington D.C., coinciding with a massive film production in town. He was selected to serve as a photo double for Will Smith in the film "Enemy of the State," and this marked the beginning of a long and successful collaboration with the actor. Over the next 16 years, David worked with Will on numerous films, including "Ali," "Pursuit of Happyness," "Seven Pounds," and "Focus," solidifying his position as a talented and dedicated actor.
