David's journey in the film industry began with a short film he wrote, "The Roommate," which premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. This groundbreaking short film starred the late Bill Paxton and Scott Thomson, introducing David to the world of feature filmmaking.
David's first feature screenwriting credit was for the third installment of the popular Leprechaun franchise, Leprechaun 3, which was released on home video in 1995. This film went on to become the biggest-selling straight-to-video title that year, solidifying David's position in the industry.
David's documentary short, "Rodrigue: A Man and His Dog," featured the iconic voice of Whoopi Goldberg as the voice of Tiffany, beloved pet of world-renowned Cajun artist George Rodrigue. This heartwarming documentary aired on PBS, showcasing David's ability to craft compelling stories.
His second documentary short, "Delta Justice: The Islenos Trappers War," won numerous awards at film festivals across the country, cementing David's reputation as a talented documentary filmmaker. His recent documentary feature, "In a Good Place Now: The Life & Music of Bobby Charles," is set to be released in 2024 and promises to be another critically acclaimed film.
In addition to his documentary work, David has also written feature films such as "Playback" for producer Brad Krevoy, "Cradle of Lies" for Lifetime Network, and "Doubting Thomas" starring AnnaSophia Robb of "Bridge to Terabithia."
David is also working on an adaptation of "Chainsaw Confidential," based on the book by Gunnar Hansen, the original Leatherface. This film promises to be a thrilling behind-the-scenes look at the making of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Greg McLean ("Wolf Creek") is attached to direct.
In the summer of 2024, David is set to direct his new thriller, "Dark Well." He is also developing a TV series based on the memoir "Blood Beneath My Feet" by noted forensic scholar and media personality Joseph Scott Morgan.
Finally, David is actively developing his acclaimed biopic of John Kennedy Toole, "Butterfly in the Typewriter," which promises to be a powerful and moving tribute to the life and work of this American literary icon.
