David Ditmore's entry into the acting world was marked by an unexpected turn of events. On his website, he shares the fascinating story of how it all began: "I started my acting career as a child in Charleston, South Carolina. My mom took me to an open call audition for a play to see how auditions worked. When we arrived, they asked me to sign in, and I unwittingly signed up for a cold read audition. We watched several auditions before being called to the stage, where I read a few lines and shared a little about myself. The experience was a surprise, but I was thrilled when a few weeks later, I received a letter informing me that I had been cast in the ensemble! I enjoyed the entire experience, and that's how I unexpectedly started my career in acting."
During the 2020 pandemic, Ditmore was cast in a film for the 48 Hour Film Project, but the director and team had to withdraw at the last minute. Undeterred, he decided to create a film entirely on his own in just two days. He wrote, directed, shot, edited, and starred in the short film "Love Yourself," which went on to win three awards in the competition and garnered nine additional awards on the film festival circuit.
