David Clarke, a renowned character actor of classic film-noir, made his mark on the silver screen with his iconic roles in The Set-Up (1949),The St. Louis Bank Robbery (1959),and The Narrow Margin (1952).
Clarke's journey in the entertainment industry began on the Broadway stage, where he debuted in "Journeyman" in 1938. He later shared the spotlight with Raymond Massey in "Abe Lincoln in Illinois".
In Los Angeles, Clarke caught the attention of agent Leland Hayward while performing at the Biltmore Theatre, leading to his first film role in Knockout (1941).
