David Agranov was born in Riga, Latvia to Russian parents, and his family moved to Italy and lived in Rome on Viale Regina Margherita. They later relocated to London before finally emigrating to the United States. He grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and became a naturalized American citizen. Agranov is a multifaceted artist, working in Theatre, Film, Television, and Music, and is a member of the Actors' Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers.
He gained recognition for his portrayal of the sadistic prison physician, Dr. Marat, who manipulates Villanelle, played by Jodie Comer, in the hit series 'Killing Eve'. He also played J. Ronald Getty, son to J. Paul Getty, in the film 'Trust', alongside Hilary Swank, Harris Dickinson, Michael Esper, and Norbert Leo Butz.
In 2019, Agranov made his debut as a cast member in a film in competition at the Cannes Film Festival with 'La Gomera', also known as 'The Whistlers', where he played Denis, a young American filmmaker. He will next be seen as The Knight in the upcoming feature film 'A Pity', directed by Kevin and Alec Barth.
Agranov has appeared in various stage productions, including 'A View from the Bridge' at the Tony Award-winning Regional Theatre, Arena Stage, and 'Trainspotting' on the West Coast. He has also portrayed Edmund the Bastard at the Met Theatre in Los Angeles and created the one-man show 'The Chet Baker Project', where he portrayed the trumpeter/singer.
In television, Agranov has recurred as Yuri the Fury on 'Ray Donovan' and Jim Ballard on 'The Unit'. He has also appeared in several scenes opposite Angelina Jolie in the film 'SALT', directed by Phillip Noyce.
