Dave McClain was born David Allen McClain in Parma, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, to William McClain and Marlene McClain (nee Taschner). He was raised in Parma and Brook Park, Ohio, by his parents and developed his ancestry tracing back to various European countries, particularly Germany. As the oldest of six children, his siblings reside in the Cleveland area, North Carolina, and California.
McClain discovered his passion for acting through school plays at Ford Junior High School, Midpark High School, Edinboro University, and Great Bridge High School, where he taught history. He graduated high school with honors and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education, graduating Magna Cum Laude from college.
In 1995, McClain joined the Army, working in Public Affairs until his retirement in late 2015. During his military career, he trained and served at various bases, worked at the Pentagon, and deployed to Iraq, Haiti, and Jordan. He also continued acting in theater productions, winning individual and group theater awards and performing at the National Theater Festival in 1999.
As an active-duty soldier, McClain wrote, directed, and produced numerous skits, plays, and video productions at churches in Augusta, Georgia, and Alexandria, Virginia. In his official capacity, he served as an adviser to the FOX TV series "Enlisted" and appeared in the special "Enlisted Boot Camp".
After retiring from the Army, McClain devoted himself to a career in the arts. He is a professional photographer, videographer, photo and video editor, published movie reviewer, writer of screenplays and short stories, and in-demand actor. He has appeared in over 50 projects in and around Houston, Austin, and Dallas, Texas, including feature films, short films, TV shows, webisodes, commercials, industrials, music videos, and voice-overs.
McClain continues to actively pursue his artistic endeavors, hoping to earn a wider audience for his writing and become involved with bigger and more widely-seen films and television shows that entertain, inspire, and cause audiences to think and become more active in making the world a better place.
He is married to Elizabeth and has two grown children, William and Savannah, living in the Houston suburbs.
