Dave's journey began in Mt. Lebanon, a picturesque suburb situated southwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During his formative years, he was an active member of the high school marching band and even started as the goaltender for half of his senior year on the hockey team. After graduating from high school in 1992, he continued his education at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he played club hockey and further honed his skills.
As his career in animation progressed, Dave served on the staff of various shows, including The Oblongs in 2001 and Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2008. His impressive work on Avatar: The Last Airbender in 2005 caught the attention of Lucasfilm Animation, leading to his appointment as director on Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2008. Initially, he was skeptical about the job offer, thinking it was a prank, but his passion for the franchise soon became apparent.
Dave's collaboration with George Lucas on Star Wars: The Clone Wars was a significant milestone in his career. Although the show was canceled after six seasons following the acquisition of the studio by the Walt Disney Company, he was retained to work on Star Wars: Rebels in 2014. This series continued the story arc of the beloved character Ahsoka Tano, who was first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
In 2017, Dave's role expanded as he became the executive producer of all animated Star Wars series, including Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. Throughout his illustrious career, he has demonstrated his dedication to the Star Wars franchise, leaving a lasting impact on the world of animation.
