Dave Coyne, a man of many talents and experiences, was born across the pond, but his life took a dramatic turn as an Air Force brat, constantly moving around the United States. This unconventional upbringing piqued his interest in human behavior, and he soon came to the realization that life is inherently humorous, and most things are ripe for comedic picking.
As a creative force, Dave has had a diverse range of endeavors, including numerous plays, short movies, and even an original Blair Witch spoof, titled "The Bear Witch Project," which he wrote, directed, and starred in for The Independent Film Channel in 1999. Additionally, he worked as a segment host for the Discovery channel documentary series TechKnowledge from 2004 to 2005.
After gaining recognition in the film industry, Dave decided to bring his unique brand of cinematic offerings to the web, adopting the persona of DCLugi for his productions. His online presence grew exponentially, and he soon found a worldwide audience of fans.
However, it was his spoof of the feature film "Snakes On A Plane" that catapulted him to internet fame. Inspired in the spring of 2006, Dave decided to impersonate Bono, writing his own lyrics to the song "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" by U2, and posting the music video on YouTube. The parody song, titled "Someone Tell Sam Jackson He's My Bro," became a viral sensation, garnering millions of views and being shared on thousands of blogs and websites worldwide.
The buzz surrounding the film spread like wildfire, and Dave was invited to the Hollywood premiere by the producers at New Line Cinema. He was interviewed and included in the documentary portion of the extras on the best-selling DVD, which was released in January 2007.
Dave's global recognition led to opportunities to work with media giant Turner Broadcasting Systems through their breakthrough comedy platform web site SuperDeluxe. He continues to produce, write, direct, and star in his videos, which are viewed by millions of his fans worldwide.
