Biography

Here is the rewritten biography of Darryl Read:

Born in Exeter, England, Darryl Read's career in film and television began at the tender age of 11. By 14, he had already won a prestigious award at the Venice Film Festival for his role in "Daylight Robbery" (1964). This early success paved the way for a long and illustrious career in TV and film, including appearances in popular shows such as "Minder" and "EastEnders".

As a teenager, Read became a pin-up star, gracing the covers of 1960s magazines like Fab 208. He then transitioned to music, drumming for the group "Krayon Angels" managed by Emperor Rosko. This led to the formation of "Crushed Butler" in 1969, the first British punk group, alongside Jess Hector (The Gorillas).

Read's music career took off, with stints as lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist for various bands. He also acted in several productions, including a premier Edinburgh Festival production of "Let the Good Stones Roll" and a Royal Shakespeare Company production of "Bastard Angel". His music and acting careers intertwined, with Read headlining gigs in large audiences and releasing albums in Germany.

Echo Music in Berlin produced Read's first single, "Play With Fire" / "Trouble in the House of Love", which became a punk/Goth underground classic. The single was followed by "No Soul Through Midnight", featuring a hard-core promo film directed by Read himself.

In the 1990s, Read collaborated with Terence James Stamp on the album "Book of the Dead", co-written with Stamp. He also played with various bands, including "The Mighty Hornets" and "The Stray Cats", and recorded the CD album "Beat Existentialist" with "The Hornets".

Read's career continued to flourish, with appearances in films and TV shows, as well as music releases. He won the role of Marc Bolan in a live show of Marc's work, which toured the UK. He also collaborated with Ray Manzarek of The Doors on several projects, including the poetry/music album "Freshly Dug" and the poetry CD album "Bleeding Paradise".

Throughout the 2000s, Read continued to release music and act in films. He played concerts in Berlin, including the Berlin Opera House, and promoted his film "Remember a Day" (2000),which featured him in the lead role. He also collaborated with Dave Goodman on the album "Shaved" and released his autobiography, "Stardom Road", in 2005.

In the 2010s, Read continued to release music and act in films. He collaborated with Spanish House Group "The Doctors" on a new genre - Poet House - and released a new poetry CD album with Ray Manzarek titled "Bleeding Paradise". He also recorded a new single, "Money Number One", and released his latest album, "All The Ghosts of Rock 'n' Roll", in 2010.

Today, Darryl Read remains a prolific artist, with a large following in the rock 'n' roll underground scene. Despite not achieving mainstream success, he continues to create and perform, solidifying his status as a rock 'n' roll enigma.
