Daniel Byers is a multifaceted creative force with a profound passion for the realms of horror, science fiction, and fantasy. His impressive body of work includes the esteemed horror screenplay PARADISE, which garnered the jury award at the prestigious Austin Film Festival in the fall of 2023. Additionally, his directorial debut, ERADICATION, has received widespread acclaim, being featured twice in The New York Times and premiering as a Tubi Channel Original in June 2022.
As an enthusiast for cutting-edge virtual production technology, Daniel has been recognized as an ICVFX Unreal Fellow. His academic background is equally impressive, having graduated from Columbia University's esteemed MFA film program in 2022.
Beyond his work in fiction, Daniel has also made significant contributions to the realm of documentary filmmaking. His projects have taken him to over 60 countries, where he has captured captivating footage of snow leopards in the Hindu Kush and cartels in the Honduran rainforest. One of his latest wildlife documentaries, Aguilucho: Dance of the Harpy Eagle (2021),premiered at SXSW and DocNYC, and even won the Wild Animal Award at the British Documentary Film Festival.
Daniel is also the founder of the documentary studio Skyship Films and the genre film studio Dark Tower Films. When he's not working on his numerous projects, he can be found engaging in a variety of hobbies, including writing, climbing, photography, and even game mastering for his favorite tabletop role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons.
