Dana Joiner is a talented and accomplished professional with a 15-year career in the entertainment industry, specializing in creating content focused on women. Born in Texas, she relocated to Los Angeles after moving from New York and quickly made a name for herself as a writer, producer, assistant director, and content creator.
Joiner's early success came with the creation and executive production of Facebook Live and Periscope's first and only live broadcast scripted comedy series, Houghton Heights. This innovative project allowed viewers to participate in real-time by tweeting and instant messaging, altering the direction of the content. This experience led to a meeting with her writing partner, and the two have since collaborated on various projects.
Currently, Joiner is a co-creator of several scripted series, including the award-winning drama Woman Enough/Unsung, which explores the lives of early women in country music. She has also developed the KEPS Mystery Series, a television/streaming project based on a book series, and is working on two biopic features about legendary female comedian Minnie Pearl and transgender pioneer Jackie Shane.
In addition to her work in television, Joiner has also written a novel, an untitled historical fiction piece based on the untold story of the first flight attendants post-WWII. This project has already generated interest for a limited series adaptation.
As an actress, Joiner has appeared in several films and television shows, including HBO's Togetherness, ABC's American Crime, and the film 8 Winds opposite Robert Davi. She has also been involved in various documentary projects, including a Martin Luther King documentary and a feature film based on the first University Production of Tony Kushner's Angels in America in the Bible Belt.
Joiner is a passionate supporter of the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, where she received life-changing surgery at the age of 18 months to correct her clubfoot, a birth defect resulting from her parents' exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. She feels a deep sense of gratitude for the hospital's skilled surgeons, who enabled her to walk and dance as a child, and repays this debt through her work and charitable efforts.
