Crispian Sallis is a renowned Production Designer and Set Decorator in the film industry, boasting an impressive array of credits in his repertoire. With a career spanning decades, he has worked on numerous iconic films, earning him multiple award nominations and wins.
Sallis's professional journey began at a young age, straight out of school, as a Production Assistant to Director Michael Winner on the 1978 film "The Big Sleep". He then joined Ridley Scott's team as a production office runner on the 1979 sci-fi classic "Alien", before being relocated to the Art Department by Sir Ridley Scott himself and UK Head of Twentieth Century Fox, Peter Beale.
As a draughtsman, Sallis worked on several notable films, including Herbert Ross's "Nijinsky" and Franklin Schaffner's "Sphinx". At the tender age of 20, he was entrusted with set decorating duties on the 1981 James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only", a role that led to a plethora of set decorating credits and eventually, a transition to Production Designer.
Throughout his career, Sallis has collaborated with esteemed directors and producers, including James Cameron, Bruce Beresford, Sir Ridley Scott, Oliver Stone, Terry Gilliam, and Michael Cimino, among many others. Sallis's father, the celebrated British character actor Peter Sallis O.B.E., was a household name in the UK, best known for his iconic roles in Aardman's "Wallace and Gromit" films and the BBC's longest-running comedy series, "Last of the Summer Wine".
