Biography

Cortés Alexander, a multi-talented individual, embarked on his artistic journey after graduating from the prestigious Professional Children's School in New York City, where he also honed his skills as a pianist. Upon completing his high school education, he was faced with a crucial decision: Berklee College of Music or California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Cortés ultimately chose CalArts, which led to a fruitful collaboration with Nicolas Cage, followed by his Broadway debut in the ill-fated production "Marilyn- An American Fable".

Alexander's path to stardom was marked by serendipity. While accompanying a friend to an audition, he was unexpectedly asked to sing and, with a mere "yes", he landed a role just two days later. This chance encounter led to a plethora of commercials, music videos, and live performances, including a stint with his group, The Tonics, at a New York club. It was during this time that he crossed paths with legendary theatre director Harold Prince, who introduced him to the renowned composer Stephen Sondheim at a Christmas party.

Sondheim, impressed by Alexander's talent, invited The Tonics to perform at a benefit in his honor. Their rendition of "Good Thing Going" at Carnegie Hall was televised on PBS as part of the Great Performances series and received a Grammy nomination. This exposure opened doors to new opportunities, including a world tour with the iconic Liza Minnelli, which lasted for approximately four years and culminated in the Tony Award-winning production "Liza's At The Palace".

Beyond his stage presence, Alexander has also ventured into film, co-starring in the TUBI original movie UNBORN. In addition, he has made a name for himself in commercial print modeling, boasting an impressive 17 tennis trophies and a trio of canine companions. Alexander has also released a critically acclaimed CD of original music, titled SWELL, which is available on various digital platforms.

As a performer, Alexander continues to captivate audiences with his live concerts in the Los Angeles area, which consistently sell out. Currently, he is focused on conquering his insomnia and reducing his pancake intake, a testament to his dedication to self-improvement.
