Corin Nemec's moniker stems from his childhood nickname, Corky, bestowed upon him by his grandmother. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, he later relocated to Atlanta before ultimately settling in California. Nemec's early foray into acting commenced with appearances in the television series Webster in 1983 and Sidekicks in 1986. His breakthrough role in Tucker: The Man and His Dream, directed by the renowned Francis Ford Coppola, followed in 1988. This was preceded by his lead performances in I Know My First Name Is Steven, a 1989 production that garnered him an Emmy nomination, and My Son Johnny, a 1991 release. Furthermore, Nemec landed the lead role in the popular television series Parker Lewis Can't Lose in 1990.
