Colin Kennedy, the CEO and founder of FixFX, a renowned 2D visual effects company based in the UK, has made a significant impact in the industry with his extensive credits on various shows and films for prominent networks such as Apple, Disney, Netflix, Sky, BBC, Channel 4, and many more.
Notably, his work has been featured in acclaimed productions like Civil War, The Gentlemen, Stranger Things, Outlander, and Gangs of London, among others.
In addition to his accomplishments as a CEO and visual effects expert, Colin is also a BAFTA-winning director, emerging from the reputable Sigma Films, which has produced notable titles such as Outlaw King, Red Road, Hallam Foe, and After the Wedding.
Colin's directorial debut feature, Swung, stars the talented Elena Anaya and Owen McDonnell alongside Elizabeth McGovern, who were both nominated for their performances by BAFTA Scotland.
Colin's early work includes a music video for which he was nominated for a BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award in 2009, and his first short film, I Love Luci, won numerous international awards, including the Prix des Mediatheques at Clermont-Ferrand, Best Fiction at Interfilm Berlin, and the Audience Award at Vila do Conde Curtas.
I Love Luci was invited to participate in over 70 festivals, including prestigious events like Palm Springs, Sao Paulo, and AFI Fest.
In 2011, Colin was recognized as a Star of Tomorrow by Screen International and subsequently won the BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Short Film.
Colin's journey in the film industry began at Chelsea College of Art, where he graduated and started his career making corporate films, earning awards worldwide. He then worked with underprivileged children for various Glasgow charities, creating dramatic films that showcased their talents.
Colin also worked as an assistant to David Mackenzie on Hallam Foe and directed 2nd Unit on four of Mackenzie's films, including aerial footage for the epic Outlaw King.
As a testament to his commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent, Colin serves as a trustee of Film City Futures, which aims to support and develop the skills of Scotland's up-and-coming screen professionals.
