Biography

Clement George Freiherr von und zu Franckenstein, son of Georg Freiherr von und zu Franckenstein, was born in 1878. Georg Freiherr von und zu Franckenstein, later Sir George Franckenstein, was the former Austrian Ambassador to the Court of St. James.

Georg Freiherr von und zu Franckenstein had been the Austrian Minister in London for eighteen years when the Nazis took over Austria in 1938, and he was recalled. However, he chose to stay in London, was naturalized a British subject, and knighted on July 26, 1938.

In London, Georg Freiherr von und zu Franckenstein met and married Editha King on July 31, 1939, with whom he had Clement George. His parents, Georg Freiherr von und zu Franckenstein and Editha King, tragically died together in a plane crash on October 15, 1953.

Following the loss of his parents, Clement George was raised by British friends. He was educated at Eton College and served for three years as a lieutenant in the Royal Scots Greys in the Middle East and Germany.

Clement George holds both British and Austrian citizenship. Prior to pursuing a career in acting, he studied opera for about three years, initially as a baritone before transitioning to tenor.

Although he was a skilled singer, Clement George ultimately decided that he was not good enough to become a professional opera singer. Instead, he turned to acting, drawing on his extensive performing experience gained through singing in nightclubs.

Before entering the acting profession at the age of 27, Clement George worked in various nightclubs, honing his craft and developing his stage presence.

Clement George's first acting job was in the mini-series QB VII (1974),starring Ben Gazzara and Lee Remick.
