Claudio Bigagli is a multifaceted artist, exceling as a writer, actor, and director, with a rich educational background that includes studying acting at the prestigious National Academy of Dramatic Arts under the guidance of Orazio Costa Giovangigli. He further honed his craft by collaborating with renowned professionals Dario Fo and Vittorio Gassman.
Bigagli's impressive theatrical debut came with his play Little Misunderstandings, which premiered at the esteemed Spoleto Festival in 1986 and garnered significant acclaim, ultimately winning the Taormina Art Award for emerging playwrights. The following year, he made his mark in the film industry with a successful and popular movie.
In 2010, Bigagli's debut novel, The Sky with a Finger, was published by Garzanti and later adapted into a film directed by Francesca Comencini, competing at the 2012 Venice Film Festival.
Throughout his acting career, Bigagli has had the privilege of working with some of Italy's most esteemed directors, taking on leading roles in notable films such as The Night of Shooting Stars, Kaos, Fiorile, You Upset Me, Bianca, The Good Life, and Mediterraneo. The latter, directed by Gabriele Salvatores, won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1992.
In his most recent endeavor, Bigagli portrayed Duilio Guicciardini, Minister of Economy and Finance, in The New Pope, a production by the acclaimed director Paolo Sorrentino.
