Biography

Christopher Loverro is a remarkable individual who has transitioned from a decorated Iraq War veteran and former police officer to a passionate thespian and advocate for veterans' rights. His journey is marked by remarkable experiences, from volunteering in Ukraine to delivering humanitarian and medical aid, to being part of an evacuation team that rescued over a thousand civilians from Bakhmut before it fell to Russian forces.

As the founder and artistic director of Warriors For Peace Theatre, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Loverro brings together veterans and civilians to use Shakespeare and theatre as a tool for healing, empowering women, supporting marginalized groups, and promoting peace through the arts.

Loverro's educational background is equally impressive, with a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from UC Berkeley and classical training as an actor. He is also a graduate of The Second City Acting Conservatory and has performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC with Diavolo's Veteran's Dance Project.

Before pursuing a career in acting, Loverro served as a Berkeley Police Officer and joined the Army Reserves in 2001, volunteering to go to Afghanistan after 9/11. However, his unit was diverted to Iraq, where he served on a Civil Affairs team in support of the Stryker Brigade Combat Team with the Second Infantry Division (3-2) in Mosul. During his year-long deployment, he was awarded the Combat Action Badge for his bravery and dedication to safeguarding civilians on the battlefield.

After his deployment, Loverro returned to his job as a police officer but was tragically injured in the line-of-duty during a fight while rescuing a kidnap victim, ultimately cutting his law enforcement career short. However, he found solace in acting, using the post 9/11 GI Bill to study the craft. He has since taken on numerous roles, including Brutus in Julius Caesar, Orlando in As You Like It, and Don Pedro in Much Ado About Nothing, and is most proud of his performances in these iconic Shakespearean plays.

Throughout his journey, Loverro has remained committed to using his experiences to make a positive impact, whether through his work with Warriors For Peace Theatre or his advocacy for veterans' rights. His remarkable story serves as a testament to the power of resilience, determination, and the transformative impact of the arts.
