Biography

Christian Bachini is a multifaceted Italian filmmaker born in the charming city of Parma, situated in the picturesque region of Emilia Romagna. His fascination with the art of filmmaking began at a remarkably early age, and soon enough, action, adventure, and horror emerged as his favorite genres.

At the tender age of 23, Christian embarked on a journey to Asia, driven by his ambition to become a Martial Arts actor. He established himself in Shanghai under the artistic name "Kang," a term that translates to "to counter and resist" in Chinese. Initially, he worked as an extra and stuntman before gradually securing supporting actor roles and eventually rising to the position of lead actor and fight choreographer in various local productions, including "Mao Pai Sha Shou/Fake Killer," "Xia Dao Zhi Zhun/Break a Dead Lock," and "Xia Dan Long Xin." He became one of the few accomplished Mandarin-speaking foreign actors working in Shanghai.

During his time in China, Christian also became a vocal advocate for Chinese-Western co-productions, working closely with Italian Film Festivals to facilitate meetings between Chinese and European producers.

After spending several years in Shanghai, Christian's passion for the horror genre began to take center stage. In 2021, he made the decision to leave Asia behind and step behind the camera, making his directorial debut with the short film "Escalation," a "proof of concept" film that went on to become one of the most successful horror shorts in the Festival Circuit between 2022/23, collecting over 80 awards at some of the world's top film festivals, according to MovieMaker magazine, including a double victory at the Academy Award Qualifying "Flicker's Rhode Island International Film Festival" for Best Horror Short and Best Practical FX.

Top genre movie news outlets such as Dread Central, Geek Tyrant, and Rue Morgue celebrated "Escalation" as one of the most brutal, innovative, and fun horror cinema experiences of recent times, while movie magazines like Deadline and MovieMaker praised the film for the no-hold-barred challenges endured by Christian behind the scenes as he took care of most aspects of production himself, from writing to set design to cinematography and editing.
