Biography

Christian Fechner was born on July 26, 1944, in Agen, located in the picturesque region of South of France. Initially, he pursued a career as an illusionist before transitioning into the music industry as a producer for the renowned French singer Antoine. Fechner's talent for transforming Antoine's musicians, Les Problèmes, into a band he would later name "Les Charlots" showcased his exceptional skills as a music producer.

As a producer, Christian Fechner managed to secure an unprecedented opportunity to work with the iconic French actor Louis de Funès, who had suffered from two heart attacks in 1975. Despite the challenges, Fechner successfully produced a series of films featuring de Funès, including "The Wing or the Thigh," "The Spat," "L'Avare," and "La Soupe aux choux" in 1981.

Throughout his illustrious career, Fechner is widely regarded as one of the most prolific producers in French cinema, having produced both blockbuster hits and independent films since the 1970s. His impressive portfolio includes "Les bidasses en folie," "Les fous du stade," "Bons baisers de Honk-Hong," "Viens chez moi, j'habite chez une copine," "Papy fait de la résistance," "Les Spécialistes," "Marche à l'ombre," "The Children of the Marshland," "La Tour Montparnasse," "Infernale," and "Chouchou," to name a few.

Fechner's work has been recognized and celebrated globally, with several of his films receiving prestigious awards and nominations. "Camille Claudel" earned nominations for Best Actress and Best Foreign Language Film, while also receiving five César Awards, including the César Awards for Best Film and Best Actress in 1989. Additionally, Isabelle Adjani received the Golden Bear for Best Actress at the 39th Berlin International Film Festival.

In the 1990s and 2000s, Fechner continued to produce critically acclaimed films, including "Les Amants du Pont-Neuf" (1993) and "La Fille sur le pont" (2001),which both received BAFTA nominations for Best non-English language film.

Fechner's last major success came in 2005 with the production of "Les Bronzés 3: Amis pour la vie," which grossed nearly $151,211,264 at the box office.

Sadly, Christian Fechner passed away on November 25, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. He leaves behind a lasting legacy in the world of French cinema, and his family, including his children, Alexandra Fechner, a film producer, and Maxime Fechner, the owner of the fashion brand Kymerah.
