Christian Alers, a multifaceted actor, dedicated four decades and a half of his life to the performing arts. Born in 1922, he began his career in the post-war era, starting with stage direction and theater performances, including countless plays, mostly light comedies.
He shone in plays by renowned playwrights such as Alexandre Breffort, Michel André, and Marc Camoletti, showcasing his versatility in both comedic and dramatic roles. His performances in plays like "Impassée de la fidélité", "Virginie", "Deux imbéciles heureux", "Boeing-boeing", and "La bonne adresse" earned him recognition and praise.
Alers also demonstrated his range in more poetic and dramatic works, such as André Roussin's "Un amour qui ne finit pas" and Luigi Pirandello's "Comme avant mieux qu'avant". He even took on serious roles in plays like "Les étendards duroi" and "Le cinquième cavalier" by Adolfo Costa du Rels.
In addition to his stage career, Alers made films, starting from 1945, but his cinematic endeavors were often met with disappointment. His early roles were minor, and he struggled to secure leading parts. However, he did receive two notable opportunities to top the bill in French-style noir movies, "Force 8" and "La cassure", although both films ultimately flopped.
Television, however, brought Alers widespread popularity through series like "Les saintes chéries" and "Marie Pervenche". He also appeared in two sentimental historical series, "Marianne, une étoile pour Napoléon" and "Catherine, il suffit d'un amour", as the father-figure sidekick to the heroine.
Throughout his 45-year career, Christian Alers remained a dedicated and faithful companion to the performing arts. He retired in the 1990s, taking his bow with the consciousness of a job well done and the recognition of his audience.
