Person biography:
My father, a Cuban immigrant nuclear engineer nicknamed Frank, resembles Danny DeVito's character in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. My mother, a French immigrant and white trash drug addict, has a jailhouse nickname of Mother Goose. Despite their unconventional upbringing, they are both still alive and able to vote.
Early life and career:
I began acting professionally at four years old, performing on Broadway and paying my parents rent at seven with the money I received. Some credit Stephen Daldry with starting my career, but I haven't worked with him since.
Professional acting career:
I've had a 35-year career marked by recognition, such as being recognized in an Uber while driving someone to the airport. I've also had several close calls at landing life-changing roles, only to have them fall through due to funding issues or other circumstances.
Worst experiences in Hollywood:
One of the worst experiences was being told I was nearly cast in Magnolia as a teenager, only to be told I was too tall and had to be replaced. I also had a terrible experience with the producers of The Spectacular Now, who told me I had great acting chops but was too old for the title role.
Best experiences:
One of the best experiences was receiving compliments from Werner Herzog, James Cameron, and the editor of The Godfather for my portrayal of a mentally handicapped hit man in a strange movie. I've also had a long-standing friendship with Paul Reubens, who has sent me a birthday card every year for the past two decades.
Retirement:
I'm considering retiring due to my SAG pension, which would pay me more than acting has in recent years.
