Chögyam Trungpa, a renowned Tibetan Buddhist meditation master, held the esteemed positions of both Kagyu and Nyingma lineage holder, the 11th in the lineage of the Trungpa tülkus, a revered tertön, and supreme abbot of the venerable Surmang monasteries.
As a multifaceted individual, Trungpa was also a scholar, teacher, poet, artist, and visionary who introduced a revolutionary reinterpretation of Tibetan Buddhist teachings and the mythical concept of Shambhala, an enlightened society that would later come to be known as Shambhala Buddhism.
Throughout his illustrious career, Trungpa played a pivotal role in popularizing Buddhism in the Western world, founding influential organizations such as Vajradhatu and Naropa University, and establishing the Shambhala Training method, a comprehensive program aimed at cultivating mindfulness, compassion, and wisdom.
