Charles Eric Johnson, a seasoned screenwriter with a rich history of crafting original material for both independent and studio projects, has been shaped by his diverse upbringing in Detroit, Michigan, and Los Angeles, California.
Throughout his career, Charles has had the privilege of collaborating with numerous industry luminaries, including Denzel Washington, Jane Fonda, Lawrence Gordon, Robert Guillaume, Dabney Coleman, Alex Karras and Susan Clark, Patrick Wayne, Alan Landsburg, Henry Silva, Yaphet Kotto, Fred Williamson, and Jim Brown, to name a few.
Charles's impressive body of work encompasses a wide range of genres, from action-packed films and dramatic tales, to science fiction and romantic comedies. His expertise in these areas can be attributed, in part, to his associations with Academy Award-winning screenwriter Walter Brown Newman, as well as industry pioneers Stanley Shapiro and James Poe, who worked on the classic film "Around the World in 80 Days".
With a strong educational background from UCLA and Los Angeles City College's theatre program, Charles was personally tutored by the renowned Walter Brown Newman, Academy Award winner for "Cat Ballou".
However, the credit that Charles is most proud of is the Christopher Award-winning production "The George McKenna Story", starring the talented Denzel Washington.
